Haringey Feast

Collective Exchange & Haringey Feast

During 2023, Collective Exchange collaborated with Haringey Council on a community outreach initiative aimed at designing, creating and organising clay workshops. The project was Haringey Feast. It was a project bringing together Haringey’s creators, cultural organisations and residents to celebrate everything creative and unique the borough has to offer culminating in a banquet at Alexandra Palace. A feast in Haringey’s culture and cultures, funded by Mayor of London Cultural Impact Award, as part of Mayor of London’s Borough of Culture programme.

CE engaged with the vibrant and diverse community of Haringey to craft unique soup bowls for the Haringey Feast banquet, intertwining the present with the borough’s rich history rooted in pottery.

CE developed a range of workshops tailored to the community’s needs and the required quantity of pots. These workshops were designed to enable participants to immerse themselves in the activity, explore various pottery techniques, and embrace the intersection of pottery and other art forms. The primary focus was on fostering creativity, enjoyment, and a sense of accomplishment. Through this collaborative effort, CE, local ceramic artist Josefina Isaza and the local community created one-of-a-kind soup bowls for the Haringey Feast banquet. The tactile and versatile nature of clay played a key role in promoting inclusivity, transcending barriers, and accommodating individuals with diverse skill levels. Each bowl stands as a unique testament to the individual creativity and diversity flourishing within the community, symbolising a collective celebration of shared heritage and artistic expression.
